MARGATE, Fla. -- A McDonald's manager was sentenced to 36 months probation for spitting on, and beating a customer with a phone.
Kenyatta Siler of Pompano Beach pleaded no contest to aggravated assault charges. In February, Jeanne Lillis went into the McDonald's on West Atlantic Boulevard in Margate to complain about a mixed-up drive-thru order. She began to argue with Siler, and used a racial slur. One witness said she also spit in the manager's face.
Police say that Siler then grabbed a phone from the wall and began hitting Lillis on the head. Video surveillance tape shows Silier whacking Lillis in the head repeatedly. Employees pulled the two apart. Lillis was cut on the forehead, right eye and nose and required stitches.
Because of a plea deal, Siler will be on probation for three years, and if she successfully completes probation, the charges could be dropped.
A civil suit against McDonald's is still pending.
